Cody McHale, PhD

Chief Operating Officer

Cody serves as Chief Operating Officer at Tract Bio, where he is responsible for driving operational excellence across the company. He bridges the scientific and executive teams concerning research, development, strategic collaborations and partnerships, and business operations to advance Tract Bio’s therapeutic pipeline. Cody is an experienced translational scientist with over a decade of expertise in immunology, in vitro and in vivo oncology models, and small molecule therapeutics. Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary teams across basic, translational, and clinical projects culminating in his faculty appointment in OB/GYN at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center (AHWFBCCC). Prior to joining Tract Bio, Cody was a junior research faculty member at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute (Charlotte, NC) and participated in translational research with WFUSM and AHWFBCCC colleagues to develop novel multitarget small molecule therapeutics for solid tumors like lung and uterine cancer. Cody has authored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts in high impact journals, including Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Discovery Today, and Journal of Immunology. Cody earned his doctorate in biomedical science (immunology) from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine and a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from USC. When he’s not working, Cody enjoys reading, running, and a good round of bad golf.
